There has been lots of really bad weather here this summer. Well, and I guess really a lot of it is the "threat" of bad weather. We really seem to be lucky in that it really never hits Topeka like it does everywhere else. But this was the night they were threatening severe weather with possible
tornadoes and bad weather. So, since we have a basement and the NBA basketball finals were on on our new HDTV Michael, Mom and Dad came over.

When they showed up at
the door I thought they had come over on Brother's scooter. I was confused about the helmets (as you probably are too!) I was like you guys are crazy for riding over here on the scooter when it is supposed to storm. They just
laughed and came in. Tyler really wasn't sure what to think of the helmets and really didn't like any of them wearing them.

So about the helmets...yes it is something that you are supposed to do when the thunderstorms are coming to
protect your head. Well, at least that is what our former exchange sister from
Tajikistan was taught while she was in America. For those of you who know my brother you know he is a little full of crap and can really make anyone believe his stories. So, one night several years ago when
Ruslana lived with us there was a really bad storm coming she was a little scared and asking all kinds of questions about how you can be safe. So of course
Michael had to have fun with it. He asked her if she had packed her helmet. She was very confused. So Michael went and got her and him a helmet from his room and said that they will be safe as long as they wear the helmet. So they went out on the deck to watch for the storm. But as long as you had the helmet on when the storm was coming you were safe.
So every time it was to storm
Russie wanted to make sure everyone had a helmet. So I guess this night was a night to honor our dear friend
Russie who learned so many useless things while she stayed with our family.
As you can tell from this picture Tyler was a little terrified of the helmets. He didn't want anyone close who was wearing one or for it to come close to his head.
It was a fun night of storms and laughs. And Priasie the Lord that we didn't get hit with the tornadoes like so many other close towns did.
(Sorry guys the pictures were too funny not to post. Amanda I hope you enjoy them)
