Medical Update

Haleigh's CT scan went well and bless her little heart she did so well. She wasn't fond of the IV but who is, and they couldn't get the girl to go to sleep! Yeah that is right it isn't just me that can't get the little munchkin to sleep the doctors couldn't either. She had a medication that was supposed to make her sleepy and lay still while they did the scan. While I was in the room they gave her several doses and she was just goofy. She was laughing hysterically when I would say boo to her. Oh my she made me laugh. She is going to be a very happy drunk they say. (That better not ever happen) But anyway she finally was doped enough to lay still but the doctor said after I left he still had to give her a couple more. She had the max amount and she was still curious according to the doctor.
They told me she would be groggy and probably go to sleep for 60-90 minutes. Boy were they wrong! She was pulling off her cover and being silly on the ride up to the room in her little hospital bed. So needless to say the day was an adventure.

As far as the results...great news! No surgery, no more treatments and she is going to be just fine. They diagnosed it as infantile hemotoma (sp?). Basically she has had it since she was born (we knew that) and it gets bigger the first year or so (exactly what happened) and then it will dissolve itself. Dr. Hershie said that it should be totally gone by the time she goes to kindergarten. However, they will keep an eye on it to make sure nothing else happens and they have an accurate diagnosis. The way I understand it it is like a bruise under the skin with some extra tissue. It will grow the first year lor so of life and then begin to dissolve itself and be gone by age 6 or 7. It was good news to me and I am very thankful that it is nothing serious.

As for Mr. Tyler. We will be going to St. Louis Children's February 3, 2010. Not sure if I gave that update but that is the scheduled time as of right now with the DR.'s there. Hopefully all goes well with insurance and we don't run into any problems. I"m also hoping that they can figure out or come to a conclusion of what they can do for the little guy.

That is our medical update now as far as serious hospital stuff. Haleigh has a serious temperature today and I couldn't take her to church. She has been sleeping all day really and has a temp of 102. Poor little girl I feel so bad for her. I hate having sick children. I want to be able to make things better but it is totally out of my control.
