Few from Christmas

Really this year was the best Christmas yet. Not just because we were snowed in and got to spend the whole day in our jammies, but because it was the first year that we also got to really talk about Jesus' birth with the kids. I guess the world may think I'm crazy but I really want my kids to know that Christmas is not about Santa and all of that but most importantly it is about our Savior being born.
I used to kinda think that people were just trying to be all super spiritual or something when they would say that their kids were 'not allowed' to believe in Santa but you know the more I think about the concept of Santa and commercialized Christmas the more I am appalled at the distraction Santa has become from taking the focus off of Jesus Christ. Oh I could really get going here but lets not.
Let's just say that we had a fabulous Christmas and you will see the precious birthday cakes we made for Jesus.

Obviously my kids did not get jipped in the gift giving aspect of Christmas I'm pretty sure we are going to need a new house now for all of the new things they received. Another thing I never understood was how people went broke buying their kids so much 'stuff' for Christmas. Be smart with your money and have a little self control I would think before I had kids. Yikes Jeff and I had to remind ourselves of that several times. I now understand how people can go crazy. We didn't go broke or anything but the kids did each receive two 'bigger' toys for Christmas. Tyler got a tool bench and a little drum set and Haleigh got a baby with a little bed and a high chair as well as a little teapot with some little pieces with it to teach manners or something.
When Jeff and I were shopping we had to buy this little apron for her. It was one of those could not resist kind of things. We went back to the store after we were done because we couldn't stop thinking about the apron. She has the one you see in teh picture and mine matches it. Oh we are so cute.

There was no hesitation when it came to stockings. Haleigh got up went straight for them as if she knew what to do. She grabbed the book out of the top and went and got her brother up so he could see too. I never did get a good one of both of them together. Oh well. There is always next year!
Togetherness is what they enjoyed this year. I"m sure it won't last. They loved opening the together presents and just thought it was the best thing ever! I never knew Christmas could be so fun.
These are our beautiful birthday cakes for Jesus. We had a birthday party for Jesus and read the Christmas story. It was all I could do to let them put the sprinkles on the little cupcakes. Oh my gosh! It just stresses me out thinking about it! who knew putting sprinkles on could be so messy?! Oh well they had fun and that is what matters. I have to keep telling myself that. Messes will clean up and it will all be okay.
Yes this is what it looked like as we put sprinkles on. Haleigh looks awful guilty. And her batter all over indicates how she was putting the sprinkles on! Sprinkle, dip, and lick!
