Getting Christmas Pictures

What an adventure it is to get two little ones ready for pictures. Surely it can't be that bad right? Let me just tell you a little bit about our adventure.
It was a Tuesday morning and on those mornings Jeff has redelivery for the newspaper, not a big deal, he is done at 10 and our pictures are scheduled for 11. We had plenty of time to drop the pagers off at the Journal and get to the portrait studio by 11. So we thought.....
We pulled out of the driveway, rounded the corner and made our way to 35th and as we are going the car is acting real funny. "Great," Jeff said. "we are going to be late because we have to get gas." Suddenly I remembered that it was acting funny on my trip home yesterday but I didn't remember to tell Jeff. Oops...big mistake! So I said "oh yeah it was acting funny yesterday when I was coming home I meant to tell you but obviously I forgot. Sorry" So we keep going, well, we went a few more feet and the car died. It was dead at the bottom of the hill. Great! What were we supposed to do. SO Jeff called my brother, but decided to run home in the meantime. So here I am sitting in between two little people in the back seat of a car that is out of gas at the bottom of a hill. Cool. Real cool.
So he went home and got the gas can which luckily had a little bit of gas in it. So we filled it up and headed for the gas station. Jeff really wasn't kidding. Getting gas really would make us late!
Pictures were fine though, oh I forgot to mention that the shoes I had for Tyler were two sizes too small. Yeah I didn't know that before that morning. SO again, making us late, I had to stop and buy Tyler some dress shoes. I swear I am like one of those frantic moms in movies or sit-coms that just fly by the seat of their pants or something. I really do plan things out but then things happen where I just look like I'm just another crazy mom with little kids. Oh I tell you. So I stop at the portrait studio, asked if there was time for me to go buy a pair of shoes. There was so I put them in the cart and ran back to the shoe section, picked out a pair of shoes and put them on him and ran back to the portrait studio. Oh I tell you what. I am so crazy! Can we please slow down?
The pictures were fine once we got settled down, oh except that the ones where they were both looking at the camera and smiling at the same time the flash wouldn't work. Oh well, they still are cute and what can you expect on a morning like we had already had. But they turned out cute and they both looked precious.

Then waiting after the pictures was a sight as well. It is really hard when there is a new chick working and you have an infant and a crazy little 2-year-old who can't hold still. Yes we caused a scene. Yes we sure did cause a scene. Although I have discovered that bribery will work for a little while. So Jeff went and bought him a snack. And the snack was a little sucker. What a mess!! Oh I tell you that is just how the day went.
But as I look back at all the crazy things that happened that could have really made me mad I just smile. Really I do. It is funny to me how crazy we can get because we want the perfect picture and we want everything to go just as planned. One of these days I"m going to look back at this time in my life and wish for those days again. I just have to cherish the moments, crazy or not, that I have with little ones because it is not going to last forever.
