One thing I love about summer is fresh vegetables. A job Tyler could help with was snapping green beans. And let me tell you...he is a good little snapper!

Fun in the kitchen
We always have fun in the kitchen in the Martens' house. It never fails that when we have people over we end up hanging out in the kitchen. It doesn't change when it is just us at home either. My kids love the kitchen. Tyler is a great helper too. He is ornery, don't get me wrong, but he is also a good helper.

I'm not exactly sure that he was helping with the ice cream, I think he was more so looking fora reaction from his dad. Now the Martens' men have a real specific love for their ice cream. Jeff is pretty particular about his ice cream. He likes it to be in a bucket like this one shown in the picture and he usually leaves it out for a few minutes before dishing it into his 'grandpa-sized' bowl. Tyler knows exactly what to do to get a reaction out of Daddy and he did just that on this particular day. He looked at me and said, "mommy...shhh" Then he pointed to Daddy with teh orneriest look on his face. Tell me he didn't know how to get a reaction. And seriously how do you not laugh?
After cutting the watermelon I let him drink the juice out of the straw. I"m really not sure if this is okay but we did it anyway. I'm pretty sure he knew it probably wasn't okay because of the look on his face. But he thought it was pretty cool nevertheless.
We have lots of fun in the kitchen no matter what we do. Sometimes it may be a little ornery something, hanging out or sneaking something behind the back. That's another one of Tyler's famous traits. He will sneak something and he totally gives it away because he is hiding it behind his back. Seriously how did he learn that?!
